Asian Short Rib Sandwich

      Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil
      2 cups soy sauce
      1 cup brown sugar
      ¼ cup rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
      1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
      ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
2 lbs boneless beef short ribs
      1 tablespoon sesame oil
    Sauce:
    3 tbsp honey
    3 tbsp soy sauce
    2 tbsp brown sugar
    1 tbsp garlic powder
    1 tbsp sesame oil
    1 tbsp rice vinegar
    1 tsp liquid smoke
    1 tsp Worcestershire
    1 tsp ground ginger
    ¼ tsp black pepper
Soft Buns (mini sub sandwich ones work well, or small dinner rolls)
    Crunchy Chow Mein Noodles Directions:
    1. Heat a grill pan. Drizzle olive oil over the ribs, and sprinkle salt & pepper. Grill each side for just about one minute on high heat, till grill makes appear. This is just to lock in a seared flavor, the ribs will still be mostly raw.

    2. In a slow cooker, combine the soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper. Add the short ribs, making sure they are covered.

    3. Cook, covered, on medium for 4 to 5 hours or until the meat is tender. Once the meat is finished, remove any fat and place aside.

    4. In a small bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients till smooth. Cut open a bun and add some of the meat. Spoon the sauce over the short rib sandwich, sprinkle with chow mein, and serve.
