Meat Candy

I found this recipe online a couple of years ago and it certainly lives up to it's name!

It sounds a bit gross, or at the very least hedonistic, but it's actually quite tasty.  These things do not last long on a plate.

Recipe:

1 pound of bacon

1 package of little smokies sausages

1 cup of brown sugar

Cut strips of bacon into thirds.  Discard any strips that are really fatty, you want to make sure each strip has some meat on it.  Wrap bacon around the sausage and secure with a toothpick.

Dump brown sugar into a ziplock bag. Place meat skewers in the bag and toss to coat.

Place the meat on foil-lined pan and sprinkle any remaining brown sugar on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-40 minutes, depending on your oven, until the bacon gets crispy and the sugar gets bubbly.

Tips:  Make sure you drain these on paper towels before serving!  Cleaning up the foil is a bit gross, I recommend leaving it until the grease coalesces so that you can just fold it into a ball and discard without it dripping. Yes, I say this because I've ended up with bacon grease all over my floor and/or stove while making this very recipe.

Enjoy!
